Trails in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh has some of the hardest routes on the site. Nearly every trail is rated hard or extreme, and the high passes top 5,400 m. From Kullu, the Hampta Pass Hiking trail crosses from the green Kullu valley to the dry slopes of Lahaul in only a few days. The Pin Bhaba pass trek links Kinnaur with the Pin Valley in Spiti. The longest walk is Khiber - Tso Moriri (Parang La trail), an old trade route that crosses Parang La and follows the Pare Chu river to the lake in Ladakh.

Drivers and riders have Tabo - Demul - Komic - Kaza (The Ibex Trail), which links high Spiti villages on steep switchbacks, and Chamba to Killar - Saach Pass, a rough single-lane road over the Pir Panjal into the Pangi valley. Closer to the plains, the Hanumangarh Peak Trek from Bir climbs the Dhauladhar above the paragliding town.
