Trails in Germany

Germany's routes spread across the whole country, from the lakes of Brandenburg to the foothills of the Alps. Baden-Württemberg has the most variety: the Schramberg to Kaiserstuhl Ride drops 117 km from the Black Forest to the volcanic vineyard hills near the Rhine, and the Black Forest St. Georgen to Freudenstadt drive crosses the northern forest. In Bavaria, the Kempten to Lech Valley Tour heads through the Allgäu near the Alps.

Walkers can follow the Bad Tabarz to Erfurt Thuringian Hike from the edge of the Thuringian Forest, or the Rhein-Nahe Vineyard Walk above Bingen, where the Nahe joins the Rhine. For a long challenge, the Sweet and Sauerland Bikepacking Route covers 229 km of the hilly Sauerland in North Rhine-Westphalia. Near Berlin, the Scharmützelsee Sunday Loop circles one of Brandenburg's largest lakes.
