About trails in Baden-Württemberg

Germany's southwest corner is cycling country, and the Black Forest is its centerpiece. The Schramberg to Kaiserstuhl Ride crosses 117 km from the central Black Forest down to the volcanic vineyard hills of the Kaiserstuhl on the Rhine plain, and the Black Forest St. Georgen to Freudenstadt drive follows the high plateau north. Near the Swiss border, the Stühlingen Wutach Ride follows the Wutach river, famous for its gorge.

Other routes pick at the region's varied geology. The Gottmadingen Hegau MTB Ride circles the old volcanic cones of the Hegau, the Tomerdingen Forest Loop walks the limestone Swabian Jura north of Ulm, and the Mannheim to Schönau Odenwald Ride climbs from the Rhine into the Odenwald. In Freiburg, the Aussichtsturm Schlossberg Hike Trail is a short climb to a lookout tower above the old town.
