The NWR-run Naukluft 4x4 Trail is a two-day, roughly 73 km route on narrow, rocky mountain tracks in the Naukluft Mountains. This first-day section climbs from the valley onto the plateau and loops past the overnight stop at Tjeriktik, about 30 km in, where stone shelters house the group.

General Instructions

The full trail takes two days; this section is the first day. Most 4x4s with standard track width manage the route, but sharp stones punish soft sand tyres, so run all-terrain tyres and carry two spares. It tests driving skill more than the vehicle; take it slowly on the rock steps.
