Trails in Switzerland

Switzerland's routes here favor the eastern Alps and Ticino over the famous big-name resorts. The Surenen Pass Hike follows an old crossing from Attinghausen in Uri toward Engelberg, the Sardona Hut Hike climbs into the UNESCO-listed Tectonic Arena Sardona above Pfäfers, and the Schnüerliweg Walenstadt to Wildhaus is a long, exposed route under the Churfirsten above the Walensee. In Valais, the Dents Blanches Hike reaches about 2,700 m in the Chablais Alps.

South of the Alps the mood changes. The Monte Generoso from Scudellate climbs a limestone summit above Lake Lugano, and the Val Verzasca Ride and Val Onsernone to Verzasca Drive wind through narrow Ticino valleys of stone villages. The Lake Geneva to Saanen Alps Drive links vineyards to the Bernese Oberland.
