Trails in Hungary

Hungary's routes explore the forested hills of the north and the wide plains to the east. In the Mátra, the Below Kékes Hike circles beneath the country's highest peak, and the Bükkszentkereszt Heroes' Well Walk explores the limestone plateau of the Bükk. Closer to Budapest, the Dobogókő Pilis Hills Loop takes in viewpoints above the Danube Bend.

West of the capital, the Gerecse hills near Lábatlan and the Bakony forests around Veszprém offer moderate hikes, and Zala's rolling hills lie toward the Slovenian border. Cyclists can follow the Tisza River from Szolnok, loop the Gödöllő hills or commute through Budapest. The Körmend to Keszthely Drive heads from the Austrian border area to the western shore of Lake Balaton.
