About trails in Belarus
Belarus is a quiet, gently rolling country of forests, farmland and rivers, and its routes suit relaxed road and gravel riding. Around the capital, the Minsk Afternoon Ride takes in the low hills of the Minsk Upland, and the Valozhyn District Road Loop tours villages and woodland to the northwest. The Chervyen Countryside Ride heads southeast through forests and fields.
In the east, the Cherykaw to Slawharad Ride follows the Sozh River for about 69 km between two historic towns in Mahilyow region. In the south, the Zhytkavichy Polesia Countryside Drive crosses the edge of Polesia, a vast lowland of marshes, rivers and forest near the Pripyat basin. Expect long straight roads, small wooden villages and very little traffic outside the towns.
- Best time to go
- May to September offers the warmest weather and longest days; winters are long, cold and snowy, and spring thaw can leave rural roads muddy.
- Terrain
- Almost all routes are moderate rides on flat to gently rolling paved and gravel roads, never rising above about 260 m.
- Permits & access
- Entry rules for Belarus change often, so check current visa requirements and government travel advisories before planning a trip.
