Bhot Kol Pass Trek: Warwan Valley to Suru
A high crossing from the Warwan valley in Kishtwar into the Suru valley of Ladakh, over the Bhot Kol pass at about 4,400 m. From the police post at Inshan the path follows the Warwan river north past Sukhnai to the summer pastures at Humpet, then turns east up a long glacial valley to the pass and drops to the Suru road near Panikhar. In August 1834 General Zorawar Singh's Dogra army came over the pass at the head of the Suru valley on its way to conquer Ladakh.

General Instructions
About 87 km one way, usually 5 to 7 days with a guide and pack animals. The pass crosses glacier and moraine, and the only villages are at the Warwan end, so carry tents and food for the whole crossing. Go between July and September; snow closes the pass for the rest of the year. Hire a local guide in Inshan: the route over the glacier is not marked.
