An easy city ride along the shore of the Upper Lake, the 11th-century reservoir attributed to Raja Bhoj that gives Bhopal its name as the City of Lakes. Start near Van Vihar National Park, pass the Boat Club and the statue of Raja Bhoj standing in the water, then follow VIP Road along the lake towards Bairagarh, with open water views most of the way.

Best time to go

Oct–Mar

October to March suits most of the country. The southwest monsoon (June to September) floods the Western Ghats and Kerala, but it is also the main season for Ladakh and Spiti, where high passes are usually open only from June to October.
