Western Ghats Coffee Loop

Added on 11 Oct 2026
Logged by @trailx

A loop of about 650 km through the Western Ghats' forest and coffee country: from Mysuru through the Bandipur and Muthanga forests into Wayanad's tea and spice hills, north into Kodagu (Coorg) via Gonikoppal and Madikeri, on through Sakleshpur to Chikkamagaluru, then back past the Hoysala temples of Belur to Mysuru. Winding, well-surfaced roads, with steep ghat sections, wet and slippery in the monsoon.

Best time to go

Oct–Feb

October to February is best for both plateau rides and ghat treks. The southwest monsoon from June to September brings very heavy rain to Agumbe and the coast, and March to May is hot on the plateau.
