Tizi n'Tichka Pass Road: Marrakech to Ouarzazate
The N9 crosses the High Atlas between Marrakech and Ouarzazate over the Tizi n'Tichka, at 2,260 m the main road pass of the range. The road climbs through Berber villages and long switchbacks to the pass, then drops into the stony pre-Saharan country around Agouim and Ouarzazate. It is the main route from Marrakech to the Draa and Dades valleys and the desert.

General Instructions
About 195 km; allow 4-5 hours with stops. Heavy snow regularly closes the pass in winter (it was shut twice in January 2026); barriers are lowered in bad weather and the road usually reopens within a day of snowfall ending. Drive the bends slowly and expect trucks and buses.
