Goa–Gokarna Coast Road

Added on 11 Oct 2026
Logged by @trailx

An easy coastal ride of about 150 km on NH66: from Panaji through Margao and the quiet south Goa beaches of Canacona, across the Kali river into Karnataka at Karwar, then along the coast past Ankola to the temple town and beaches of Gokarna. Smooth tarmac with short hilly sections, easy fuel and food all the way.

General Instructions

Best from October to March. NH66 carries heavy trucks and buses: ride defensively, and take the small coastal roads in south Goa for a quieter route. Expect heavy rain from June to September.

Best time to go

Oct–Mar

October to March suits most of the country. The southwest monsoon (June to September) floods the Western Ghats and Kerala, but it is also the main season for Ladakh and Spiti, where high passes are usually open only from June to October.
