A 47 km mountain bike loop used by Addis Ababa riders: tarmac up Entoto Road to Entoto Maryam church, then east along the ridge tracks and down a steep, rocky descent towards Kotebe before returning across the city on tarmac. The loop climbs about 1,200 m in total and tops out above 3,000 m.

Trail Profile

General Instructions

47 km with about 1,200 m of climbing; plan 4-5 hours. Ride in the dry season (October to February) as the descent becomes slippery in the June-September rains. The altitude makes the climb hard for riders who have just arrived; carry tools and water as there is little support on the ridge.
