Dorze Villages to Chencha Walk
A walk through the Gamo highlands from Dorze Lodge past the Dorze villages to the market town of Chencha, at about 2,700 m in the Gughe Mountains. The Dorze are known as cotton weavers and for tall beehive-shaped bamboo houses, and the route is used as the first stage of treks towards Mount Gughe.

About 12 km one way, mostly uphill; allow 4 hours. Public buses link Chencha with Arba Minch hourly for the return. Walk with a guide and avoid the heaviest rains in July and August.
