Nongriat Double-Decker Root Bridge and Rainbow Falls Trek

Added on 14 Oct 2026
Logged by @trailx

A stepped trail from Tyrna village near Sohra drops into the valley to Nongriat, home of the double-decker living root bridge grown from the roots of rubber fig trees. The path crosses steel suspension bridges and single root bridges, and continues up the valley past another root bridge to Rainbow Falls and its blue pool.

Best time to go

Oct–Mar

October to March suits most of the country. The southwest monsoon (June to September) floods the Western Ghats and Kerala, but it is also the main season for Ladakh and Spiti, where high passes are usually open only from June to October.
