Khentii Heartland Route
East from Ulaanbaatar into the homeland of Chinggis Khaan: paved road to Chinggis City (Öndörkhaan) on the Kherlen river, then rural roads and tracks north through Binder to Dadal on the Onon river, one of the places that claims to be Chinggis Khaan's birthplace. It crosses open steppe, forested hills and the river valleys that rise in the Khentii Mountains.
