Jbel Saghro Crossing: Nkob to Boumalne Dades via Tizi n'Tazazert

Added on 14 Oct 2026
Logged by @trailx

This road crosses the volcanic Jbel Saghro massif between the kasbah village of Nkob in the Draa region and Boumalne Dades, over the Tizi n'Tazazert pass. Once a rough piste, it has been paved in recent years, and it passes through bare rock country of mesas, gorges and nomad grazing land with a simple guesthouse and cafe near the pass.

General Instructions

Allow about 3-4.5 hours with photo stops. Older reports describe loose stones and ruts, so check conditions; take extra care on the descent after rain or snow, which is rare but possible in winter. Fuel up in Nkob or Boumalne; there are no services in between.
