Indore to Mandu via Dhar

Added on 14 Oct 2026
Logged by @trailx

The classic day drive from Indore west across the Malwa plateau to Dhar, then south to the fortress town of Mandu on its rocky outcrop of the Vindhyas. The final approach passes through a series of old gateways, including Alamgir and Bhangi Darwaza, before entering by the Delhi Darwaza, the main gate in Mandu's 45 km of walls.

Best time to go

Oct–Mar

October to March suits most of the country. The southwest monsoon (June to September) floods the Western Ghats and Kerala, but it is also the main season for Ladakh and Spiti, where high passes are usually open only from June to October.
