A South Gobi loop from Dalanzadgad through Gobi Gurvansaikhan, Mongolia's largest national park (about 27,000 km²). It runs into the narrow gorge of Yolyn Am, where ice can linger into summer, across rocky desert plains to Khongoryn Els, the 'Singing Sands' (dunes about 100 km long rising to about 300 m), and back via Bayanzag, the Flaming Cliffs where the first dinosaur eggs were found. Beyond the paved road to Yolyn Am it's unpaved desert tracks, sand and long stretches without fuel.
