Col d'Aspin (1,489 m) is one of the great Tour de France climbs. The classic side starts in Arreau: 12.0 km at an average 6.5%, gaining 779 m. Usually paired with the Tourmalet or Peyresourde. First Tour appearance: 1910 (about 71 times). Gino Bartali and the Italian teams quit the 1950 Tour after riders were attacked by spectators here.
