Azilal to Ait Bouguemez (Happy Valley) Road

Added on 14 Oct 2026
Logged by @trailx

A paved mountain road links Azilal with the Ait Bouguemez valley, nicknamed the Happy Valley by early French trekkers, running through high plateaus and over passes into the valley at Agouti and on to Tabant. The valley floor is a patchwork of fields and adobe villages beneath the M'Goun massif.

General Instructions

Allow about 2 hours from Azilal. It is a narrow single-lane road with drop-offs and no barriers in places; drive in daylight. The older piste via Ait Mhamed is rough and often blocked by snow in winter, so use the paved road via Agouti.
