Hell's Gate National Park Cycle: Elsa Gate to the Lower Gorge

Added on 14 Oct 2026

Hell's Gate is one of the few Kenyan national parks where you can cycle among wildlife. The ride follows the park road from Elsa Gate down the valley between red cliffs, past Fischer's Tower and Central Tower, to the ranger post at the Ol Njorowa (Lower) Gorge, with zebra, giraffe and buffalo grazing alongside.

General Instructions

About 8.5 km each way (17 km return); the ride in is gently downhill and the ride out a gradual climb. Check the hired bike's brakes. Flash floods make the gorge dangerous in the rains, and it may be closed; ask rangers.
