Trails in England

England's routes are mostly about gentle countryside rather than high summits, and much of it sits within easy reach of London. The Chequers and Chilterns Walk covers 36 km of chalk beechwood and escarpment near Wendover, and the shorter Coombe Hill Chilterns Walk climbs to one of the best viewpoints in the Chilterns. The London Loop Section 4 and the Richmond Park Kingston to Petersham Walk show how green the capital's edges are.

Farther afield, the North Norfolk Coast Path, Day 2 follows salt marsh and shingle along the Norfolk coast, and the Weeting Breckland Walk crosses the sandy heaths of the Brecks. Mountain bikers head to Cannop in the Forest of Dean for the Forest of Dean Cannop MTB Loop, while long-distance riders can take on the BRM LONDON EDINBURGH, an audax of nearly 670 km.
